Working in pest control has opened my eyes to all sorts of things and random knowledge I never thought I’d learn about. Today’s trivia category is things that kill bugs other than zappers or spray.
Recently I learned about a bug remover called a “Bug-A-Salt” – which is this nifty little contraption that they claim can “remove your fly swatter”. How does it work? Using regular table salt you load it into the shotgun and shoot away. It claims to “decimate” flies on contact. It’s not too expensive either, the highly rated 2.0 version on Amazon is $39.95. For more entertainment read some of the reviews, not only does this work great on killing bugs apparently this shotgun can also be used to salt food if you get bored. Don’t like the yellow one? You can get a pink camo one here.
This got me thinking, what other interesting bug removers are out there? Off to Amazon I went to research and here are two more I found.
The Elucto Large Electric Bug Zapper Fly Swatter – this fancy gadget takes the original fly swatter to a whole new level. It claims to kill bugs with one swat, it’s charged with AA batteries and will start working on the spot, with no delays or need for charging. It also does not need to use any chemicals so it’s environmentally friendly.
This review had me laughing out loud: “After 30-ish bug bites, we decided enough is enough and declared war on the blood-suckers. Armed with “Elecuto Electric Bug Zapper Fly Swatter”, mankind’s most advanced bug-killing technology, thousands have been slain in this holy war. Their limbs are scattered in the desolation that is our front porch. One is always left alive to tell the tales of our carnage.”
Meet the BugZooka WB100 Bug Catcher Vacuum. At 1,855 reviews on Amazon and 4 out of 5 stars, I’d say this one is a winner. The description says that bugs are instantly sucked into a removable catch tube with the simple press of a button. Because of this vacuum technology, you keep your distance and avoid bug squish and splatter.
