Hotels face a set of unique challenges when it comes to pest control that not many other establishments have to deal with.
The first challenge is a constant revolving door of customers. On any given day, a hotel could have anywhere from a dozen to hundreds of new guests at their establishment. For large hotels with conference and banquet halls, you not only have guests staying at the hotel but also have hundreds of new people coming in and out to attend events, weddings, conferences, etc. It is nearly impossible to control what pests might be brought in through someone’s luggage, clothing or even on their person.
The second challenge they face is from the food service aspect. Almost all hotels have some type of food service production. From commercial sized kitchens, banquet kitchens to a small in-house kitchen, food service has it’s own set of challenges when it comes to pests. With any food service, you fall under regular inspections by the health inspector for a whole different set of regulations. When you have stored food, food preparation areas, food deliveries, it can bring in a variety of pests that you should also factor into your pest control.
The third challenge hotels face are many entry points. You’re not just controlling entry by a front or back door. At a hotel you have main entrances, side entrances, delivery doors, kitchen doors, just to name a few. The access points for pests to enter is much greater for hotels than any other establishment.
